Riley was a vibrant soul who embraced life with an infectious energy. He had a passion for staying active and took part in a variety of sports and activities. From playing in a softball league, to joining his grandpa on the golf course, to bowling weekly with friends, Riley thrived on the connections and camaraderie these moments brought him. He also loved snowboarding, taking memorable trips with friends to Minnesota, Montana, and Colorado. During the winter months, you could often find him at Great Bear, whether he was hitting the slopes or rebuilding ramps for even more excitement.
A dedicated fan of the New York Yankees and the San Francisco 49ers, Riley cherished the opportunity to see his favorite teams in action at Target Field and US Bank Stadium. His love for travel and adventure extended to attending concerts and sporting events, and he was known for his enthusiasm for new experiences. Alongside his athletic interests, Riley had a deep passion for music, loved riding his four-wheeler, and took great pride in his extensive shoe collection.
In August of 2019, after a period of illness and a week spent in the hospital, Riley was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. He faced this chronic condition with immense strength and determination, adjusting to the new reality of daily insulin injections and blood sugar monitoring. However, while our focus was on helping Riley manage this sudden diagnosis, his family was unaware of the struggles he was facing with addiction. Tragically, on the morning of September 7, 2019, Riley was found unresponsive after unknowingly injecting a toxic combination of substances laced with fentanyl.
Riley will forever be remembered for his compassionate heart and his willingness to help others. He was always ready with a smile and a laugh, brightening the lives of those around him. His love for his friends and family was boundless, and he was cherished by all who knew him. In honoring Riley’s memory, we are reminded to live life fully, embrace the love of those close to us, and treasure every moment.
