Missy Hevle-Heimes was born on November 17, 1972, in Yankton, South Dakota. She died in 2016 of an accidental overdose.  Missy suffered from opioid use disorder to prescription medication following an injury.

On September 3, 2011, Missy married Richard Heimes in Yankton, SD. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter in Sioux Falls, where she devoted her time to raising their three beloved children: Merissa, MicKayla, and Adain. A devoted and loving mother, Missy took great joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was shopping, sharing coffee with her children, or calling them by the endearing nicknames “Pookie Bear” and “Pooh Bear.” Missy embraced every moment she could spend with her children, cherishing her role as a stay-at-home mom and finding fulfillment in volunteering at her son’s school whenever possible.

Her family extended beyond her immediate circle, as Missy adored spending time with her many nieces and nephews, creating memories they will treasure forever. A spirited sports fan, she delighted in supporting Nascar and the Kansas City Chiefs, always playfully teasing her husband for being a Raiders fan. Above all, her greatest pride and joy came from being “Nana” to her young grandson, whom she affectionately called her “Sunshine,” while her son Adain was her “Superstar.”

Missy’s love for family and friends knew no bounds. Her heart was filled with kindness, and her legacy of warmth, humor, and selfless giving will continue to be felt by all who were blessed to know her. Her faith remained a guiding light throughout her life.

Her daughter MicKayla beautifully captured Missy’s spirit in this touching poem:
The precious word is ‘MOTHER,’ she was my world you see,
But now my heart is breaking ’cause she’s no longer here with me.
God chose her for His angel to watch me from above,
To guide me and advise me and know that I’m still loved.

Missy’s memory will live on in the hearts of her husband, children, grandson, mother, and all those whose lives she touched. She will be profoundly missed, but her love and light will remain with us forever.
