Kaylee Ann Teppo, age 19, of Belle Fourche and Sioux Falls, died on September 29, 2021, from a fentanyl overdose.
Born on February 7, 2002, in Spearfish, South Dakota, Kaylee grew up in Belle Fourche alongside her two sisters, Megan and Kelsey, who she loved dearly. Her childhood was full of joy—time spent at the lake with family, traveling for soccer and basketball tournaments, and always being surrounded by friends and laughter. Kaylee was fun, funny, and always ready for the next adventure.
As she grew, Kaylee discovered her passion for makeup and creativity, and she adored her pets. One of her greatest joys was becoming an aunt, a role she embraced with love and pride. Kaylee cared deeply about others, always trying to make people feel better, and she had a natural ability to see the best in everyone.
Kaylee also faced struggles with addiction during her high school years. Despite the challenges, she fought hard for sobriety and expressed her determination in countless journal entries. She graduated from Flandreau Indian School in 2020 and had just begun her studies at South Dakota State University.
Kaylee will always be remembered for her compassion, empathy, and the way she made others feel seen and accepted. She is forever missed and never forgotten.
